When it was laid down, Myoko was the largest and most heavily armed cruiser in the world. Its main battery of ten 8-inch guns was supplemented by a secondary armament of eight 127 mm guns and numerous Type 93 Long Lance Torpedoes. Myoko served from the first Shanghai Incident through the end of WWII. Along the way it participated in some of the most pivotal battles of the Eastern Theatre.
