HLR-81013The Surcouf was the first of a program dating back to 1946 which previewed the construction of 18 type T 47 escort ships. All the different parts of the hull were built and then sent to the dry dock before final assembly. The Surcouf was commissioned on the 1st August 1954. On June 6, 1971 the Surcouf was hit by a Soviet crude oil tanker the "General Boucharov".
