The HMS King George V performed her first special campaign in January 1941 carrying Lord Halifax to the USA where he was appointed Ambassador in Washington. On his arrival in the harbor of Annapolis he was greeted by the President of the Unites States.
The King George V took part in the operations of Norway in March 1941: it was the beginning of the battleship’s operational carreer. On April 1, 1941 the Admiral Sir John Tovey’s commanding flag was transferred to the HMS King George V.
